This is great for using up leftover DK weight yarns.

Yarn
Use any DK weight yarn
Approx. 100 yds Color A
Approx. 35 yds Color B

Needles
Two size 8 circular needles or 1 set of size 8 double pointed needles

Gauge (not very important that it's precise)
12 rows and 12 stitches = 2” on relaxed k1 p1 rib

Abbreviations
K-knit
P-purl

Cast on
Using Color A, cast on 36 stitches
Mark the beginning of the round with a stitch marker.

Ribbed Cuff
Working in the round, work in k1 p1 ribbing x 6 rows.

Reinforce thumb slit
Using a cable needle, remove one stitch from before the stitch marker and one from after the stitch marker. Wind the yarn loosely around those two stitches twice to provide stability and reinforcement to the thumb slit.

Thumb slit
Work back and forth in k1 p1 ribbing for an additional 10 rows. Reinforce thumb slit as previously, and continue working k1 p1 ribbing in the round or another 6 rows.

Decrease row
*K1 k2* tog to end of row (24 stitches)

Entrelac Sleeve (Note: Entrelac is worked back and forth on one section of stitches at a time, and the sections are locked together as you go by either a k2 or p2 that includes a live stitch at the edge of the adjacent diamond.)

Work entrelac on sets of 6 stitches as follows.

Left-leaning half-diamond (triangle)
K1, turn, p1, turn
K2, turn, p2, turn
K3, turn, p3, turn
K4, turn, p3, turn
K5, turn, p5, turn
K6, do not turn

Repeat x 3

Change to Color B (contrasting color), right-leaning diamonds (4)
First diamond
With knit side facing you, pick up and knit 6 stitches along edge of adjacent diamond, turn,
*p5, p2 tog, turn; k6, turn* x 5
P5, p2 tog, do not turn

Second, third and fourth diamond
With purl side facing you, pick up and purl 6 stitches, turn; k6, turn
*P5, p2 tog, turn; k6, turn* x 5
p5, p2 tog, do not turn

Change to Color A, left-leaning diamonds
First diamond
With purl side facing you, pick up and purl 6 stitches, turn
*K5, k2 tog, turn; p6, turn* x 5
K5, k2 tog, turn, p6, turn

Second, third and fourth diamond
With knit side facing you, pick up and knit 6 stitches, turn; p6, turn
*k5, k2 tog, turn; p6, turn* x 5
K5, k2 tog, do not turn

Change to Color B and repeat right-leaning diamonds sequence.

Change to Color A, final right-leaning half-diamond (triangle)
First triangle
With purl side facing you, pick up and purl 6 stitches, turn
K5, k2 tog, turn, p5, turn
K4, k2 tog, turn, p4, turn
K3, k2 tog, turn, p3, turn
K2, k2 tog, turn, p2, turn
K1, k2 tog, turn, p1, turn
K2 tog, p1

Triangles 2, 3 and 4
With knit side facing you, pick up and k 6 stitches, turn, p6, turn
K5, k2 tog, turn, p5, turn
K4, k2 tog, turn, p4, turn
K3, k2 tog, turn, p3, turn
K2, k2 tog, turn, p2, turn
K1, k2 tog, turn, p1, turn
K2 tog, p1

Bind off very, very loosely and weave in loose ends.
